This is an extremely short and hence, an easy trek that takes you through Punakha, which is Bhutan’s historic and ancient capital. The altitude that the trail covers is just more or less thousand meters. The trekkers have to negotiate the modest slopes that go up and down gradually and offer hardly any difficulty to the trekkers.
This hike follows an old foot trail that originates from Thimphu to Punakha and takes you through remote villages, dense forests, and rice fields. You can get some incredible views of Phajoding Monastery and takes you through Sinchula Pass. You have the option of camping near Chorten Ningpo, which is an ancient chorten. Since it is a relatively low altitude trek and you only negotiate warm climate, you can go for this trek all throughout the winter, though it is best to trek between March and May and then again between September and November.
